My metal shop blocks all cell signals. With the antenna on the outside and the transmitter inside, cell phones work great. No setup. Just connect wires, and it works.

Well worth the price couldn't believe what a great deal I got on this product. It works really well so far.

Well worth the price. I went from not being able to make a call in my room to being able to use social media.

Let's get into the nitty gritty details.

What Is A Signal Booster

A cell phone repeater (also known as cellular repeater, amplifier, or cell signal booster) is a device used to improve cell phone reception in an indoor outdoor environment. A cell phone repeater is typically made up of three primary components:

  • An outside antenna - also called a "reception" antenna
  • A signal amplifier
  • One or more rebroadcast antennas

It's a solution that takes an existing outside cell signal, amplifies it, and then broadcasts the boosted signal to an area inside of a building or vehicle that needs better signal.

What Signal Booster Does Not Do

A cell phone signal booster requires an existing outside cell signal to boost. It cannot create it's own cellular signal, so if there is not an existing outside cell signal available, then a cell phone signal booster will not work.

Will It Work For My Carrier

Mobile signal booster will only work if it supports the same frequency bands that your carrier uses in your area.

Here is the main 4G Bands in Australia

  • Telstra/Optus: 700MHz (Band 28)
  • Vodafone: 850MHz,1800MHz,2100MHz (Band 5, Band 3, Band 1)

However, carriers also use additional frequencies (bands) for improved capacity and speed.

So please note that it's not always enough to match just one frequency. Australian phone networks are built using multiple frequencies, and not all frequencies are available in every location. The network frequencies used in rural areas are often completely different to those used in the city.

If you live in the countryside or suburbs, you need to find out which frequency bands your carrier uses at your location.

How to Find Out Frequency Bands

You can check this information on your carrier’s website, in your phone’s settings, or by using a mobile network analyzer app.

Here's how to check specific frequencies via your phone

iPhone

  1. Turn off Wifi
  2. Key in *3001#12345#*
  3. Press call
  4. Tap: menu
  5. Tap:Serving Cell Info
  6. Scroll down to freq_band_ind

Android

Install an app Network Cell Info Lite on the Google Play store. It provides detailed network cellular information.
